EIHL Game Notes 2026/27

Wednesday 7th October 2026, EIHL Regular Season

Fife Flyers vs Coventry Blaze

First placed Blaze hit the road to Scotland to face off against a Flyers team that is certainly riding a high, after back to back defeats over the Steelers in dramatic OT results.

Blaze, arrived to this game also with an unbeaten start to their official regular season campaign, notching a pair of regulation wins in the process.

Fife at home were unbeaten in regulation, their only defeat in a shootout to rivals Clan on the very first competitive opener, making it three straight wins at home on top of the SOL.

Flyers had scored 20 goals across all competitions, where as Blaze also had the same in terms of production.

It is still extremely early in the season to make sense of PP outcomes so far, however, across cup action, both teams are side by side, +20% with Flyers set to 25% on the PP.

Here is how the game went, with a new scoring system to evaluate player performances;

For the breakdown, there is a legend added to understand the scoring intentions; with this game however, it is likely undervaluing the outcomes of the set formula created to track quality of performance per player per team as compared to the Storm – Stars game, for example.

It has been a busy week, with more coming up, so will refocus again and update shortly after this whole game week to see if anything needs adjusting.

The longterm hope is that once all games are tracked and updated, they can be populated into those bar charts and posted separately.

Scoring metrics include shots on goal, primary assists, secondary assists, goals, power play goals, power play assists, blocked shots, on ice goals against, stacked points (to reward multi-point games per player as an end point multiplier), face off wins and losses.

No goalie stats tracked, purely skaters.

You might see that despite losing, Flyers rated higher. This was by the overall contributions, which by the raw data, shown more blocked shots and higher face off wins, as well as less PIMS against. This stacked against the Blaze.

It shows that even with a losing scoreline, a losing team played well. Had I included a goalie scoring system, the tilt might have swung toward Blaze.

This is something that will be included going forward.

Last season I ran this score card loosely on highlighted games on top of regular reporting/blogging. Things got put on the wayside due to personal circumstances.

I also included a team Corsi %, which I will add going forward and would even weight that similar to the player scores, meaning, lower Corsi = less points and vice versa, which would add to the overall team game score.
