Preview vs Blaze

League Record So Far; 30 – 10 – 2, 62pts, 2nd Place

Devils travel to Coventry for their 5th league meet this season, as they lead the current series 3:1 against their old foes.

Both teams have experienced contrasting fortunes on the ice this season, with Devils enjoying the lion share of this contest, which told a different story last season.

Last seasons regular season series vs Blaze

As far as scoring is concerned, Devils completely out score their opponents 22:9, with an average over 5.5 GS vs 2.25 for Blaze in this contest so far.

One more win for the good guys and its a series win for them, whereas Blaze are looking to bounce back from a 4 game skid, although this has come with added tragedy in their ranks, with the unfortunate loss of a dear coach in their set up. RIP Keeno.

Whilst the Blaze will be trying to battle through their own painful circumstances, Devils will look to continue to build on their previous form, league leading in L10GP with 17 points. Contrasting with Blaze, who are rock bottom overall across the same period.

Devils are also boosted by a dramatic win in Nottingham, the first in three seasons. This will set an expectation for them to continue a winning run, particularly with a long awaited home stand starting this weekend.

Across The Benches

Special teams wise, Devils fare pretty well. 2nd in league for the power play at 28% and improving again to 3rd on PK% with 78.33. Blaze are 2nd overall on the PK with 82.3%. Blaze are sat in 7th on the power play with 19.12%.

Blaze also struggle to convert their chances, sitting 9th with just 121 goals scored this season, of course Devils are 2nd best with 167 scored. This has also set the tone for the Blaze on ice results, being rock bottom for ROW (7) and an incredible 16 games needing extras.

This translates to their home performance overall, a point per home game (22) all season. On the road, the current ‘road blokes’, are the Devils with 37 points earned, the most of the league, just one point ahead of Steelers in that respect.

Ones to Watch

Joey Martin – currently on a 17 game point streak, almost a point per game since his return from injury (18 games total).

Jamie Arniel – 7 points in his L5GP with MVP voted on twitter/X and goal of the week winner for Devils, he is one that can turn a game on its head.

Ian McNulty – He has been the engine for points this season for Blaze, with 41 right now as the team leader.
