Devils Catch Up & Preview vs Flames

League Record So Far; 18 – 1 – 9, 37pts, 3rd Place

Devils recently put up a 4 point weekend in response to collecting Bronze at home in the Continental Cup, for what was a memorable weekend of great hockey and fan fare.

The team reacted well and made sure to close out both games the best they could, as a lot of hockey has been played recently with some players carrying knocks.

11 Goal Thriller vs Stars

The game against the Stars wasn’t short of turns, drama and the typical end to end tilts that fans of both teams have become used too. The win for the good guys notched their 4th from 4 out of the six league games to play this season, putting up another high scoring affair.

The key take aways were the quality of puck possession and converted chances one end and a little switch off the other, as it seems to be a two step forward, one step back level of performance, that ultimately got the goods sorted, but as the season kicks on to the business end, being clinical will need to be a must.

Wilde Night in A Leisure Centre

The following road game started well, but soon got tiled the other way as the home team there converted their man advantage chances, who hit 3PPG on the night but Devils pushed back to force OT then Bode Wilde pulled out a hat during the shootout win.

This shows that despite fatigue and a lot of hockey recently, the team will battle through and try to get those maximum points. This feels like the squad that started the season, so not doubt when the roster is fully fit, they will be going full pace to claw back som of the distance from the top spot.

3 Stars for the Weekend

Third Star; Bode Wilde – 1G, including Shootout heroics plus 1G vs Stars

Second Star; Joey Martin – 2PPG

First Star; Jamie Arniel – 2G, 1A

Coming Up

Following the last docuseries episode which featured the tense build up to Conti Cup action, it will be very interesting to see how things went for that tournament following the aftermath of those speeches in the locker room, catch that here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_BbjPxyzWU

January has been a hectic month for the club, with injuries at one point stacking up, it seems to be just River Rymsha left to be released from IR (Injury Reserve) to rejoin his team. He was backdated to IR the start of the month, so should be eligible to play this Sunday vs Flyers.

What that means for the roster is yet to be known, as Wilde is IR cover for Rymsha after Martin was reactivated to the main roster. So, will this force some players as scratches, being Duggan and Pietroniro?

January Leaders So Far

Jamie Arniel (10) leads across all comps this month with 3G, 7A so far.

With 9 apples, Crawford continues his points pace and streak with the helpers.

Joey Martin since returning from IR has been a goal per game in the league (4), with 5 points in L4GP. His best points streak for quite a stretch.

Despite one goal in January, Sanford has kept pace in the league points wise with 6 overall.

Looking Ahead to Flames

The recent game went to OT in a dramatic fashion, which as the above stated, a Wilde night down in the chlorine pits.

Flames are currently leading the league series 2-1 and have bounced back from their earlier stuttering start this season and are now in contention for going in for a battle at the top, even though there is a huge gap that even Flames would have liked from last season.

Both teams are locked on points now, however Devils do have 2 games in hand and are stronger both offensively (103GF) and defensively (74GA) by 10 each way.

Could Devils tie this series and gain an advantage in the standings?
