Post-Game Review; 5 Key Takeaways vs Blaze

League Record; 14 – 1 – 6, 29pts, 2nd Place

Devils bounced back against a woeful Blaze team with a sensational shout out game that completely blew the tyres off their opponents for extra fun.

As mentioned previously, a big, statement comeback following a similar fate prior to Christmas in Sheffield was needed and they made no mistake in making that back.

Here are some key takeaways from that game;

1. Stat Night

16 of the 20 players for the roster recorded at least one point in the game last night, including league leading goalie, Ben Bowns, with a secondary assist on the incredible Davies goal. 24 points in total were notched, 8 Goals and max apples for each.

Sanford (2G, 2A) had a great 4 point game, as well as Crawford adding to his point per game pace with a goal and a helper, making it 11 from L11GP. Evan Mosey also had a stat night to remember, with 2 goals and a helper, he is up to 8 from L11GP.

Ully also continued his impressive playmaking pace with 3 more apples for his own collection, that brings him up to 9 from L11GP joining Crawford (21) as first players to hit +20 in the league this season with 20 (15A).

2. Special Teams

The special teams worked their magic and got their rewards in brilliant fashion last night. Devils jumped to 1st in the league with the PK at 85.71%. During the PK, they came away with a SHG, a sensational effort by Ben Davies, that sent former Devil Taran Kozun to the benches. This happened immediately after the good guys going 4 up on the PP.

The PP improved to 21.88% overall, so it is a welcome stat for those that have been worried about it, the SHG also had a secondary assist by Bowns.

3. Wilde Nights at Home

Bode Wilde added another point at home since joining recently and has been a handful for his short time here, pairing well with Batch and a threat going forward, particularly on the PP. A brilliant pick up so far, so long may it continue.

4. When It Rains, It Pours

Another relentless night on net, saw 82 shot attempts with 47 SOG. A 17% shot efficiency rate which is the highest it has been for a while, so no doubt that will get the confidence flowing in a much needed rout for the boys.

5. Ben Freaking Bowns!

Not only did he notch an assist, made a 30 save shutout, but that was his career 40th shutout! He still leads the league in SV% with 93.63 and in second overall for GAA at 2.02. What a season so far for the infamous Cardiff stopper.
