League Record So Far; 13 – 1 – 6, 27pts, 2nd Place
The Festive Fixtures are rolling on and Devils look to bounce back from the pre-Christmas defeat, a 4 zip shutout in Sheffield, to keep pace on the aforementioned leaders and continue to build their momentum during the winter stage of the season.
The last time they met in the league, Blaze took a shootout win, so a ROW tonight for the good guys will be the aim of the game from puck drop.
Both teams have dropped 2 games in the last 5, with Blaze needing need more extras for a couple of their wins, which should make this game a close affair.
Last season, Devils took both wins at this stage of the season, so a home Boxing Day clash would serve as a welcome change too.
Both teams boast a top 3 PK% with the league leaders, so attention to details is key, as new signing Bode Wilde will look to continue his home start with another stellar performance, hopefully adding to the PP options to make that special team click and gain some rewards.
The game will noticeably be won/lost by the concentration of the goalies, with Bowns expected to play, he will look to continue his own stellar form. As for the Blaze starter and former Devils back up and fan favourite, Taran Kozun will undoubtedly look to make an impact on the game tonight.
What a battle this will be.
Hopefully players are rested and heads are clear, bellies aren’t too full and festivities were somewhat controlled to not impact the iced battles tonight, however, it is Christmas and I am still full.
There is other hockey to watch over this period other than EIHL and some NHL.
The IIHF 2023 World Juniors have kicked off already, not to mention the Spengler Cup is due to start also, so there is plenty of festive hockey to keep tabs on. Of course, the best showcase in a weeks time, the NHL Winter Classic. What a time!
