A Look Ahead to the Weekend vs Stars & Flyers

League Record; 11 – 1 – 4, 2nd Place, 23 points

The Devils will play all 3 Scottish teams over the next week, before a crunch show down with current league leaders and pace setters, Sheffield Steelers, in what will be vital games for much needed points to keep title hopes alive.

Clan recently recorded a Scottish clubs first win over the Devils this season in CC action, eliminating the good guys in the process, so we should expect a response this weekend, in games vs the Flyers and Stars.

First up is a home tie vs Dundee before a journey to Fife, a whole other country, Tom Coolen would have you know, unbelievable.

Dundee had a pretty decent start to the league, but in the last 5 games they have 1 OTW to their name. Devils are 3 – 1 – 1 in their last 5GP, looking to get back into winning ways and continue their league progress.

This is the third meeting between them, with previous games won by the good guys, scoring 9 goals, conceding 4. Their latest game was only a week ago, after the Devils made an incredible road trip to Scotland, playing 3 games in 5 days. How would Tom Coolen cope? Utterly baffling.

Stars have the second best PP in the EIHL at 25%, whereas the good guys hold the second best PK at 85.29%.

Devils have the most goals scored at 56, Stars two behind at 54. For GA, Devils have the second best record compared to the Stars, who are 8th in the league.

The Flyers have probably felt they deserve more from their efforts so far this season, however with some losses to their roster over recent weeks, the strain is now visible. They sit bottom of the table, however not at a great distance, having just as bad a GA record (64) as their compatriots, the next nearest to them all is Belfast.

Fife have the joint worst PP, rock bottom at 14.29%, however their PK is very respectable with 81.54%, at fifth overall.

I would expect Joey Martin to return to action this weekend at an early guess. If not, then the same lines as before.

Chad Pietroniro has now served his 3 game suspension, however, if he doesn’t feature this weekend, then that should be the writing on the wall for his time here in Wales.

Ones to Watch

Devils – Justin Crandall; 5pts in last 6GP (4G, 1A)

Stars – Ryan Valentini; 2nd overall in league with 20pts

Flyers – Kyle Osterberg; leads his team in points (16)
