Expected Milestones 23/24 Season

Looking ahead to this season, there should be a few milestones for players on this years roster. Last season, there was some notable milestones, so this campaign we can expect a few more.

Already there have been plenty of games underway, so lets have a look at who can expect what this season, order based on current players in the all time points for the Cardiff Devils.

Joey Martin – 7 Overall, GOAT Status

The 35 year old centre from Thorold, Ontario has been an import stalwart and dependable veteran for 8 seasons, often referred to fondly as the ‘GOAT’ and for good reason.

He is 1 goal away from 200 in all EIHL competitions, with 1 assist from 100 in the Challenge Cup.

He is also 15 games away from 500 as a Devil in all competitions, with 37 to play in all EIHL competitions also.

Martin is currently at 1.17PPG pace over all seasons in the league and 1.22PPG in the CC. Despite this, he is currently projected at just 14 points for the league this season, however I wouldn’t read too much into this, its early days and the top line hasn’t been firing yet.

Mark Richardson – 13 Overall

There may or may not have been a massive achievement last season for Richie, who sits 5 points away from 400 as a Devil in all competitions and 3 goals from 100 also. The EIHL veteran is also 47GP from 1000 as a Devil.

What an achievement by the captain.

Ben Davies – 28 Overall

The other long time vet and hometown hero, currently sits at 10 points from 200 overall in his Devils/EIHL career and is on a point streak of late, with his line on a heater right now tearing each game up.

He recently hit 400 EIHL regular season games. He is 8 assists away from 100 in the EIHL league, 3 from 120 overall in all EIHL competitions.

Josh Batch – 37 Overall

Another veteran who is soon to cap off some milestones with the Devils. He is just 6 games from 750 in all EIHL competitions, 6 goals from 50 in a Devils uniform. He is the second most tenured active Devil, with the Captain out in front.

Trevor Cox – 36 Overall

Not in numerical order, however, points wise the alternate captain has been rising up the ranks just his third season in Cardiff Bay. He is 41 games away from 200 as a Devil, 31 points from 200 overall in all competitions.

He is also 7 assists from 100 in the league, sitting at 128 points in the regular season with 162 in all EIHL competitions.

Cole Sanford – 42 Overall

You would be forgiven to think Goal Sanford doesn’t sit higher, however he has had a slower start, potentially his slowest yet as a Devil, though he is active in the challenge cup.

This weekend saw him hit 150 GP in all competitions for his club,

Justin Crandall – 52 Overall

Another player who in their third season should see significant gains and a rise further up the Devils all time points scorer list. Crandall currently sits 4 points from 100 in the league, has 125 points following his assist in the 4th goal vs Storm on the road.

He also just 5 apples to go until he reaches 100 as a Devil overall, including 39 games from 200 as a Devil in all competitions. In the EIHL, he is 3 games away from 150 and 4 points from 125 in all EIHL events.

Marcus Crawford – 84 Overall

This has been a player to watch, as the EIHL DOTY joined high company in his maiden season. He started slow but has since recovered in recent games, building upon his base of points as an offensive D-man.

He is 16 games away from a century as a Devil, with 24 points from 100 in all competitions. He is over 1 point per game in the league, which is a great achievement. Currently he is projected for 45 points, however this should rise as he gets going again.

Joshua Waller – 90 Overall

Waller hit 150 GP this weekend in all competitions as a Devil. He has the same points overall as Crawford, needing 24 points for 100. Time will tell when he will get a lock for a top 6 spot.

Waller also needs 2 goals in league action to make his first quarter marker, with 33 goals in all EIHL competitions and 78 points collected so far, just 22 more to go until 100 for the EIHL, manageable for sure.
