Devils Catch Up

CHL Pre-Season Warm Ups, First Looks, New Additions

The weekend double header to help Belfast prepare for the CHL showcased glimpses of what to expect for the Red Army Battalion of fans, in two very entertaining, high scoring games, that took more than regulation to settle.

Fans were delighted with two OT’s, a shootout and plenty of carpal tunnel damage, with pleasantries being exchanged early on, despite CHL rules (loosely) being implemented, with the Devils matching the ferocity of physical domination, with puck possession all weekend.

Credit to Belfast, dressing 14 new skaters in their organisation, they will be forgiven for some errors, however, the intensity went both ways, proving these teams, even early on, are ones to watch this coming season.

New forwards Ryan Barrow (scouted very early on last season) https://twitter.com/hockeysteve8719/status/1608468406281408513?t=UpJDJURUa0yc_7bGOH0mCQ&s=08 and Jamie Arniel took Man of the Match honours for both games, with Ully, Donaghey and Rymsha all impressing.

Callum Booth, despite the PK implosion in the first 10 minutes of the Home tie, dazzled with his aggressive, confident style of tending that goal.

The arena upgrades added to the atmosphere magnificently, including a new intro on the screens and some inspired light shows during the game.

From an earlier article https://hockeysteve.co.uk/2023/08/20/can-bayley-harewood-crack-the-eihl-devils-roster/#more-897, Bailey Harewood increased his stock by notching his first Devils goal in Belfast and continued to impress.

With Amiens visiting this weekend and a week of further training, it will be exciting to see what the group and rookies can do.

The Fan event is on Wednesday 30th, which will offer more insights for the fans, which is surely not to be missed https://www.cardiffdevils.com/news/meet-team-wednesday-30th-august/
